چکیده

PARAVER (PARAllel Visualization and Events Representation) is a tool to visualize and analyze a parallel events trace le. PARAVER can be used in two diierent ways: Creating its own trace le in accordance with the PARAVER trace format, or using a modiied PVM library. PARAVER is based on a simple interface to manage several displaying windows. In fact, PARAVER can be seen like a tape recorder where the trace le is the tape. PARAVER provides many functionalities to see and analyze quantitatively the trace le. Moreover, the user can add his own analysis function to extend the func-tionality of the tool. This paper discusses the basic concept, design and use of PARAVER. We explain in detail each window. The diierent functionalities of PARAVER are also examined. Finally we present the future directions of our research.

Automatic Parallel Performance Analysis and Tuning for Large Clusters

This paper describes ongoing development of a performance analysis and tuning tool for parallel MPI [11] applications running on large clusters. Several parallel performance debugging tools such as VaMPIr [5], AIMS [3], and ParaVer [7] exist. Most of the existing tools provide post-mortem analysis and rely extensively on program visualization techniques to aid the user with performance bottlene...

Performance Analysis of Multilevel Parallel Applications on Shared Memory Architectures

In this paper we describe how to apply powerful performance analysis techniques to understand the behavior of multilevel parallel applications. We use the Paraver/OMPItrace performance analysis system for our study. This system consists of two major components: The OMPItrace dynamic instrumentation mechanism, which allows the tracing of processes and threads and the Paraver graphical user inter...

Creating, Visualizing, Analyzing, and Comparing Series of Artworks

In the present paper we discuss a visualization and authoring tool that enables users to visualize and analyze a collection of artworks. The user’s goal is to identify those items within the collection with similarities that can suggest an item’s membership to a series. We describe not only how the tool assists in the creation of series, but also how it helps to compare several series in parall...

Accelerating high-order WENO schemes using two heterogeneous GPUs

A double-GPU code is developed to accelerate WENO schemes. The test problem is a compressible viscous flow. The convective terms are discretized using third- to ninth-order WENO schemes and the viscous terms are discretized by the standard fourth-order central scheme. The code written in CUDA programming language is developed by modifying a single-GPU code. The OpenMP library is used for parall...

A Parallel Program Development

This paper describes a programming environment aimed at developing and tuning message passing applications before actually running them in a real system with a large number of processors. Two basic tools in this environment are a simulator (Dimemas) and a visualization and analysis tool (Paraver) that are closely integrated.
